Exploring MetaSounds: a new high-performance audio system in Unreal Engine 5

Unreal Engine 5 has been in Early Access for nearly two months, and in that time we’ve been hosting a series of in-depth presentations relating to the key features on Inside Unreal — our official weekly livestream.

Most recently, we explored MetaSounds, a new high-performance audio system that provides audio designers with complete control over Digital Signal Processing (DSP) graph generation for sound sources, as well as Quartz, a feature set that brings sample accurate timing of audio events to Blueprints. Lead Audio Programmer Aaron Mcleran was joined by Product Specialist Victor Brodin as they explored Unreal Engine’s new audio features live.

If you’ve missed past episodes of Inside Unreal as we’ve explored the features of Unreal Engine 5 Early Access, we invite you to get caught up through the links below. We also encourage you to jump into the forums for further discussion and join us on our Twitch or YouTube channels for the final episode in our Early Access launch series, which will focus on Game Feature Plugins.
