Almost nothing is better than a day at the beach, so what better place to showcase your latest concept than the same sandy scene we developed to highlight our Automotive Material Pack. This little parking lot next to the beautiful white sand beach has a simple story to tell. You’ll see drifting sand and grass growing in the cracked asphalt. You may also notice the drips and stains on the concrete walls. To inject life into the image with granular detail, we used 3D assets from Quixel to make the scene more realistic.
Now we have taken that afternoon at the beach and packaged it for anyone using Unreal Engine 4.25. This means users can place their concept vehicle, hot rod, classic car, or motorcycle into the scene, crafting an image that tells a compelling story. You can also swap out the HDRI for a different look and add your own custom lighting to highlight the design.
Unreal Engine 4.25 also provides material updates. The more physically correct clear coat shading model allows us to simplify some materials. We also added the ability to rotate the triplanar projection mapping, making it even easier to get that woodgrain or brushed metal flowing in the correct direction.
