Over $1 million USD in revenue?

Royalty-based

If you're creating a game or application that relies on engine code at runtime and will be licensed to third party end users, you'll pay royalties and won't be required to purchase seats.

Cost

All lifetime gross revenue above $1M that is directly attributable to the UE product, regardless of who collects it, will be subject to a 5% royalty. Revenues generated from sales in the Epic Games Store are royalty-free.

Download Unreal Engine

Once you ship your game or other application, please submit the Release Notification Form. After that, report your royalties each quarter.

Seat-based

If you're using Unreal Engine for commercial purposes, have generated more than $1 million in the past 12 months, and are not creating a game or application that relies on engine code at runtime and will be licensed to third party end users, then a seat license fee is required.

Cost

$1,850 per seat per year.

Epic Pro Support is available as an additional purchase for licensees with ≥10 seats.

Seats

$1,850 / seat / year

Seats are purchased and managed via the Developer Portal.

Please contact us if you would like to discuss custom licensing terms, if you're planning to purchase more than 25 seats, or if you’re interested in purchasing Epic Pro Support.
