UEFN Professional Bootcamp: Prepare for Unreal Engine 6

You already know what it takes to make games. Now expand your expertise with Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) and Verse—and prepare for the next chapter of game development.

The UEFN Professional Bootcamp is a free online learning experience for games industry professionals with at least three years’ experience in games development, artists or teaching who want to apply their existing skills to a new development environment.

Build practical knowledge, create and publish a playable Fortnite island, and strengthen your portfolio with work that demonstrates your ability to adapt, build, and deliver.

Training will take place over five days from November 30 to December 4, and comprise three hours of guided learning each day from 10 AM to 1 PM ET and CEST.

You’ll then have two weeks to build your own island, with hands-on labs taking place between December 7 and 18 that will dive into various technical aspects of development. The deadline for publishing your island is January 4, and we’ll showcase the best work on January 15.

Our previous Bootcamp saw 328 UEFN islands published using Fortnite and partner assets.
Apply for the next one by November 6, 2026 to get hands on with the technology while picking up hints and tips on publishing and promoting your island.

Why UEFN and Verse? Why now?

Epic’s roadmap brings Unreal Engine and UEFN together in Unreal Engine 6, with Verse at the foundation of its future programming model. Learning these tools today offers a practical starting point for understanding that transition.

This bootcamp will help you turn that opportunity into hands-on experience. You’ll explore UEFN workflows, develop gameplay with Verse, and apply your production knowledge to an experience built for real players.

As the technology evolves, you’ll have a stronger foundation to build on—and practical work to discuss with prospective employers, collaborators, and clients.

Who is the bootcamp for?

This program is designed for people with games industry experience who want to broaden their technical and creative capabilities.

Whether your background is in design, programming, art, technical art, or production, the bootcamp will help you build on your existing expertise for UEFN development. It’s an opportunity to explore a new specialism, strengthen your professional profile, or prepare your team for emerging workflows.

From industry experience to a playable island

Across five days of focused training, followed by two weeks of project development, you’ll work towards creating your own Fortnite island.

Industry experts will support you throughout, answering questions, helping you navigate technical challenges, and providing feedback as your project develops.

The emphasis is on practical delivery: making design decisions, implementing gameplay, testing your experience, and improving it through iteration. You’ll also explore how player metrics, including retention and playtime, can inform development decisions.

Career development sessions and industry briefs will help you articulate how these new capabilities complement your experience—and where they could take you next.
