The rope spline component supports easy creation of ropes in your scene, both static and dynamic - driven by PhysX.

Based on the default Unreal spline component, a configurable rope is generated between the spline points. Once Simulate Physics is turned on, the rope will start interacting with its environment, falling down, moving objects and more.

  1. The Cable Component does the same thing?

The stock cable component is extremely limited, focusing on interaction between two specific points. The spline rope component allows a rope to be created between a long curve of points, instead of having to have many independent ropes. This is both faster from a creation point of view, and spends less resource.s

At the same time, the rope component is extremely fast - and also supports more intricate physical interaction - for example supporting cutting into hundreds of pieces.
