● The fence now uses hierarchical instanced static mesh components which can be distance culled.
Use Start and End Cull Distance parameters under the construction tab.
Optional - check the Use Dithered LOD transition option in your materials to get smooth fading transitions.
● The materials of every mesh can be changed from the details panel.
● Construction mode - check this option when drawing long and complex fences.
This mode shows only simple visual representation of the fence to save resources.
Unleash the power of splines. With just one universal Blueprint you can now create almost any type of fence or wall. Just Alt+drag new spline points and the fence will follow. The system utilizes spline mesh and instanced static mesh components for a maximal performance. Both static and dynamic lighting is supported.
How it all works:
A fence consists of POSTS and SECTIONS.
A SECTION consists of BARS and POLES.
By clicking on "+" button in the properties you add a new element to the fence.
You can use NONE, ONE or even MULTIPLE elements of each type.
EVERY element then has it's own CUSTOM TRANSFORM.
By setting MIN and MAX values you can define a range for every element's LOCATION, ROTATION and SCALE create a lot of variations.
What's more you can add also CUSTOM ELEMENTS (POSTS AND SECTIONS).
Pick an INDEX of the post or section and define your custom element which will then replace the original one. This way you can make for example openings for your gates, or just add some extra fidelity to your fence.
