Storyboard Tool

Fae Corrigan - Code Plugins - Jun 5, 2020

A tool to quickly create cameras and screenshots in a film production environment. Also useful for video games and arch viz.

  • Supported Platforms
  • Supported Engine Versions
    4.25 - 4.27
  • Download Type
    Engine Plugin
This product contains a code plugin, complete with pre-built binaries and all its source code that integrates with Unreal Engine, which can be installed to an engine version of your choice then enabled on a per-project basis.

The storyboard tool is an editor utility widget and set of cameras that greatly expand the default screenshot capture capabilities of the engine.

It is being depreciated and rolled into the open virtual film project plugin for UE5. In the mean time, I am making this one free too!

Ask a question or send me a message if there are any features you want to see implemented

It is based on a traditional storyboard and allows a user to organize a set of cameras with associated preview screenshots, adjust commonly used camera settings in a streamlined way, generate multiple image types from the same camera, and create 2d camera plots.

Demo: https://youtu.be/BBvCZQaUPBY

Tutorial: https://youtu.be/_8XNtRKD4Dw

Features:

  •  A camera editing UI: Show all the cameras in a scene in one place, add new ones, organize them into boards with previews
  • Draw on top of your screenshots
  •  Multiple image format exports: Create depth, clown, line drawing and white model images easily from the same camera.
  • A lens/filmback dropdown linked to a CSV for more in depth camera matching control
  • 3d Camera frustums
  • 2d Camera Plots
  • 360 sphere capture camera: to take images that can be sent to a tablet or phone for low tech on-location scouting.
  • C++ code to lock/unlock a camera using blueprints

If you are looking to try out the tool, there is a free version here: https://www.openvirtualfilmproject.com/downloads

The free version does not include the drawing functions and has a less advanced UI. If you are working on a project with someone using the full storyboard tool, the free version will allow you to open their files and view their cameras.
