The Medieval Game Environment has been updated for UE5.3, and uses all the new features of the engine, featuring fully upgraded audio. 

  • Nanite enabled on all valid geometry, and the landscape
  • GI and Reflections now use Lumen
  • Shadow method is now Virtual Shadow Maps
  • The level has been converted to World Partition
  • Cascade particles have been replaced by Niagara
  • Performance has been improved compared with the original version
  • Fully upgraded audio
    • Cleaned up legacy audio content
    • Switching many of the legacy systems to leverage Metasounds
    • Procedural music playback system using Quartz, Blueprint logic and data assets for randomized layering of musical elements
    • Taking advantage of soundscapes, tied with dynamic TOD 
      • Time of Day-sensitive triggering integrated into Soundscape manager blueprints
      • New nighttime versions of Soundscape Palettes for Forest and Cornfield

This is a short walking playable experience allowing the player to become fully immersed in a beautiful and eerie medieval environment. It highlights some of the most exciting new features in Unreal Engine 4.26. The environment is fully dynamic and utilizes the new Sky Atmosphere system to light the scene. As the environment is downloadable, we strongly encourage players to follow along in the highly detailed tutorial series linked below.
