Works well with the Modular Alien Environment Set
This environment set was built for a wide range of platforms and game types. If you need to go low for mobile you can easily down-scale and remove many textures and material calls and if you want to go higher there are options for that, as well. These assets work well for first-person, third-person, top down and VR game types.
This is a very large set built to cover just about every need possible, with the basics like walls and floors, but also crawlable ducts, cover-walls, and tons of decorative options. You can also apply just about any type of tiling material or texture to these models and tweak their colors on the fly.
The set includes:
- 24 decals/overlays
- 20 blueprints (automated sliding doors, sweeping cameras, rising platforms and some are simple multi-model containers)
- 80 floor, platform and stair pieces
- 104 wall pieces (flat, hex and tube shaped)
- 58 ceiling pieces
- 34 trim pieces
- 108 barrier type pieces (gates, doors, pillars and railings)
- 28 duct pieces
- 150 decorative pieces (pipes, panels, machines, lights and more)
Everything is Nanite ready, as well. Just enable it on any mesh you want, or all at once, with a single right-click.
(You cant use Nanite with transparent materials however, so if you enable it on any model using glass, they will show grey. Just swap out the transparent material if you want to use the model with Nanite)
All models were built to fit the Unreal character with a consistent scale, though they can be enlarged quite a bit without loss of quality. Their UV's are also built to a consistent texel density/scale. UV0 fits the same tiling textures size on all models and UV1 is for lightmap bakes and specific texture work (IE emissive details on the screens)
This pack is about 1.8 gb with everything, or about 280 mb if you remove the AO/wear textures.
The included topDown level ran on a galaxy s8 at a constant 60 fps (with the ao/wear textures removed, simple shaders used)
The detailSample level ran on a galaxy s8 at 40-60 fps (nothing removed or optimized, but 2-4k textures cut in half)
Number of Blueprints: 20
LODs: Auto (currently set to 4)
Number of Meshes: 563
Vertex Count: Ceiling/floor pieces average 500 verts per 2x2 meters. Walls average 2000 verts per 2x3 m. Decorative pieces 200-12000 verts.
Collision: Yes, custom simple geo for most
Number of Master Materials: 6
Number of Material Instances: 9 set controllers and hundreds of individual instances linked to the set controllers
Number of Textures: 497
Texture Size: 512-4k for AO/wear masks. 2k tiling texture masks and normals. 256-1024 decals and emissives.
Intended Platform: All (though tested on Windows and Android)
Documentation: FBX models and Tips/Guide sheet included with the pack
Important Note: The included sample maps would need to be imported to a project of their respective game type to fully run in that mode. IE the topDown map into a top down project.
