Introducing the Interhaptics SDK for Unreal Engine, your gateway to a world of immersive haptic experiences. Elevate your Unreal Engine projects with the Interhaptics SDK and bring a new dimension of touch and feel to your virtual creations.

Once the Interhaptics SDK is integrated, you can harness its power through Unreal Engine's Content Browser. Here's how to make the most of it:

Haptic Manager:

Dive into "Interhaptics C++ class > Interhaptics > Public" and find the Haptic Manager. Easily drag it into your Viewport, setting the stage for haptic interactions in your project.

Creating Haptic Blueprints:

Generate new Blueprints with the "Haptic Source" type, and unlock a plethora of haptic features at your fingertips. Customize your experiences with:

  •    General: Assign a Haptic Effect to objects within your project, dictating how they interact with haptic feedback.
  •    Blueprint Event Graph - Set Targets: Define the targets of your haptic source, choosing from Left, Right, Both, or None. Tailor the experience to your specific needs.
  •    Blueprint Event Graph - Play: Initiate haptic events, immersing users in tactile feedback that brings your project to life.
  •    Blueprint Event Graph - Stop: When the time is right, halt ongoing haptic events with ease.

Unreal In-Engine Testing:

Open the HapticLevel3D map from Interhaptics Content and enter PlayMode to test directly 4 different haptic effects on your controller by pressing the A,B,X,Y buttons. (PC GameInput/XInput controller required)

Haptic Composer:

Create custom HD haptic effect for GameInput/Xinput, PlayStation 5 DualSense, and Nintendo JoyCon Controllers (currently supported by the Interhaptics Unreal SDK) - Download it here

Technical Details


  • Assign a Haptic Effect to a Haptic Source to be played on GameInput/XInput compatible PC controllers / PS5 DualSense controllers (request on PS5 Dev Portal - must be PlayStation Partner) / Nintendo JoyCon controllers (request on the Nintendo Developer Portal)
  • Set Targets: allows you to set the targets of the haptic source between Left, Right, Both or None (targeting done on the game controller - body, trigger or both zones)
  • Blueprint Event Graph: Play: starts all haptic events related to the Haptic Source
  • Blueprint Event Graph: Stop: stops all haptic events related to the Haptic Source
