Flocking Update - Now including Niagara particle systems and blueprints! (4.26)



This pack features 11 unique bird meshes and 22 color variants with highly customizable material animation and color parameters - including color masks, low poly shading, and fresnel highlights. Easily create material instances for more variations! Each mesh has 3 LODs. LOD0 is around 2.1k triangles.

** Separate LOD1 meshes include for situations where you need less detail + better optimization in your scene.


There are new flocking blueprint systems allowing you to quickly add bird flocks to your level with different behavior and functionality. Some examples include:

  • Birds flocking randomly within a box,
  • Birds flocking along a path (closed spline),
  • Birds idle on the ground, and takeoff when approached by player. (There are 3 flight modes: Flocking, Spline, Chase)


This set includes 5 original Cascade particle emitters for each bird (flocking, circling, takeoff etc.) - as well as 5 Niagara systems. These new systems have modules for flocking, raytraced collision detection, spline flightpaths, random idling, and more!


Original Static Mesh Blueprints:

  • Particle Take-Off Actors: Simple Bird BP system that will sit idle until a player/pawn approaches - then triggers a flying particle (fly away, swoop down, etc.) Includes random mesh scale and idle animation parameters.
  • Spline flight-path Actors: BP system for constructing spline flight-paths, with simple take-off/landing animations. Includes random mesh scale and idle animation parameters.


Static Mesh Animations: All animations use material WorldPositionOffset, offering lightweight performance and extra control over all animation parameters. Works with any custom mesh that is properly oriented along X+ axis.
