Auto-Tiler is a material function that will change the tiling of a texture dynamically based on the world scale of a mesh. it supports things like panner and other UV functions.

With Auto-Tiler you can have every material in your level dynamically and automatically adjust its tiling based on the mesh world scale. You won't need to use tricks like world aligned textures or trying to manually line up the tiling, the material function will automatically detect the new scale of the mesh and auto adjust the texture to properly fit it.


The scaling is infinite in size, so you can make a mesh as big or as small as you want and auto-tiler will figure out the right tiling amount for you. Since this is a material function you can add it to any material in your project, you don't need to rely on the demo ones in this asset pack making it project agnostic.



NOTE: In the screenshots I had to squish some of the images to show a side by side comparison, if you want to see it in action, then please download the demo which resizes engine basic shapes in a showcase level or watch the example video above.

Technical Details

Features:

  •  Make level design extremely quick and easy, this tech is used in AAA games where you might see it used on mountains or other reused assets that get scaled up and down alot
  •  Very easy to use, should take no more than 2-3 minutes to get it setup and working in your level(may vary depending on how many materials you need to add it to).
  • Cheaper on performance and more versatile than world aligned textures.
  • Supports any other material function that uses UVs such as panner, rotator, or any other ones.
