The Editable Object is an Actor Component that receives your assets (Materials Instances and StaticMeshes) to enable the ability to change how these objects will change in an Architectural Visualization. Apply many object variations you want and the Widget Menu will resize itself to keep everything tidy. Use the Ghost Effect to add an offset to your object variation to set a new position to it or just avoid unwanted overlaps due to the mesh scale.

EditableObject gets the mesh/Material data from DataTables to improve the add/remove variations usability.

This project use assets from Epic Games (Realistic Rendering & Content Examples) only to have a visual feedback and to show the final result if you use this component in your projects.

You can check the Tutorial Map everytime you want after dowloading the plugin.

Technical Details

  •  Change Materials/Meshes (or Both properties) from a StaticMesh that has the EditableObjectComponent attached. The Plugin works, at the moment, with StaticMesh Components only.
  •  GhostEffect: When changing a mesh, you can use a Ghost Projection to predict where that mesh will spawn to avoid unwanted overlaps or just apply an offset to your object.
  •  Use a DataTable to improve the ability to add or remove a new variation from the project.
  • Each variation has a flag "bIgnoreThisVariation" that can be used to hide unwanted variations without delete it from the project.

Important/Additional Notes:

1) If you would like to use the ChangeMesh option, make sure all your lights are set to Moveable. Otherwise the shadows from it won`t update in realtime.

2) If you already have Editable Components in your map and change the DataTable Rows Properties (or add new rows) to it, don't forget to press the 'UpdateComponentDatabase' to refresh its Database!
