Train Jam 2019

저자: Victor Brodin

This week, developers from all over the world will converge to take part in a game jam like no other; the sixth annual Train Jam will depart from Chicago on March 14 with over 340 artists, programmers, musicians, and game enthusiasts onboard. I, personally, have the opportunity to join the 52-hour jam across America to San Francisco, and I'm super excited!

On Thursday morning we’ll gather at the station to form teams over breakfast, which will be a great time to congregate in a space wider than three meters before boarding the train. This will also be the last chance to download software or documentation, since once the train leaves, we’ll be at the mercy of cell reception. To save everyone time, we’ve prepared digital resources that will be distributed with the Train Jam thumb drive. In addition, I'll have a version of Unreal Engine on hand to share. In the meantime, we encourage anyone interested in game jams to check out the links at the bottom of this post to more easily get going using Unreal.

Don't worry Train Jammers, we'll help you be productive and get the sleep you need!

If you’re interested in working with Unreal during the jam, but are worried about the lack of stable internet access, consider me your resource. I’ll be mentoring during scheduled hours on the train, so don’t hesitate to find me if you need help. You can also reach out to me on Twitter or via email.

Happy jamming!
