Real-time archviz helps Scenario Architecture win clients and speed up sign-offs
It’s also a proudly dynamic studio—one that embraces the latest technologies to improve communication with clients and ensure projects run smoothly. In that spirit, the team recently started to explore Twinmotion, the real-time tool for fast and easy 3D architectural visualization. It hasn’t looked back. “Twinmotion has become an integral, organic part of our process and we can no longer imagine working without it,” says Ran Ankory, Founder and Managing Director at the firm.
From ARCHICAD to real-time visualization in seconds
Scenario Architecture has long worked in 3D, and has always been keen to share its vision for house designs with clients as early as possible. Finding its existing process of using 3D renders time-consuming, the team started to look for alternative means of visualization. “We’re always on the hunt for new technology,” says Ankory. “One of the architects started playing with Unreal, and then he heard about Twinmotion and the ease of using it. It didn't take us more than five minutes of trying it to realize it was exactly what we were looking for—specifically because of the link to ARCHICAD.”As well as being compatible with all BIM software, Twinmotion offers direct one-click synchronization with some of the most popular architectural design packages, including ARCHICAD, Revit, SketchUp Pro, and RIKCAD. Architects can go from ARCHICAD designs to compelling real-time experiences in seconds.
Once in Twinmotion, the designers at Scenario found the intuitive UI and workflows meant they could get started straight away, with barely any learning curve. “It was so user friendly, so understandable,” recalls Architectural Designer Merce Cofan. “In about a week, I was already working on my own projects. I think it really helps to visualize, not only for the clients, but also for us. It's a very visual software and really fun to work with.”
Interactive visualization for speedier sign-offs
The team initially used Twinmotion fairly late in their process, for detail design. However, it’s increasingly found itself turning to the tool earlier and earlier. “I don't wait anymore,” says Teodora Iancu, another of Scenario’s Architectural Designers. “As soon as I have an idea, I draw it in ARCHICAD and then one click away, it’s there for me to see. It’s become intrinsic to our design.”For fellow Architectural Designer David Rieser, being able to give the client a sense earlier on how the finished project will look has made a huge difference when it comes to getting the green light on designs. “The fact that you're able to walk around a 3D environment that has all the materials and all the lighting effects means that sign off for the client is a lot easier,” he explains. “It's a very useful tool, even very early on when we just show everything in white. When you're just looking at the light and spatial quality, no materials are in play but it's still a very useful tool even then.”
Perhaps most tellingly, the decision to adopt Twinmotion for visualization is now having an effect on the number of clients coming through Scenario’s doors. “It's hard to quantify because it's such an integral, organic part of our process, but we can say that it helps us bring in more clients with better projects,” says Ankory. “We can no longer imagine working without it.”
