Implementing Level Design with Blueprints

In this course, you’ll learn how to use Blueprints to create scripted events and interactions when designing levels for your game.


This course will begin by planning the player’s experience as they progress through the level as part of a level design document. We’ll look at outlining the varieties of scripted events and interactions to include, and then focus on how to implement these using the  Blueprint visual scripting system. 

The value in this approach is that you will not only understand how to create gameplay for the player using Blueprints, but also the important ‘why’ and ‘when’ to create those elements in a Level Blueprint, Actor Blueprint, or a combination of both.

You will learn how to:

  • Plan the creation of Blueprint Actors and Level Blueprints based on a Level Design Document.
  • Integrate gameplay with Actors and Blueprint scripting in a level blockout.
  • Implement communication between actors in the world and the Level Blueprint.
  • Use the Blueprint to control player progression through a level.
  • Create scripted events that play in the level with the Level Blueprint.
