Overview
In this 14-minute micro-course, Paul Neale provides a method for creating customizable road signs from a single plane, a Trim (or Sprite) sheet, and a tileable back material. It will be possible to change the sign to one of 16 different signs contained in the Sign Trim texture using exposed parameters in a Material Instance. We will also have the ability to add damage to the sign in the form of displacements.
You will learn how to:
- Create and modify trim sheets within Unreal Engine.
- Develop two-sided materials using the two-sided sign node.
- Create noise-based displacements in a local space using local position and vertex normals WS nodes.
- Organize materials with comments and parameter groups and priorities.
