Unreal Engine 5.7

Looking to kick-start your projects with real-time VFX? We’re excited to introduce the first release of the Niagara Examples Pack for Unreal Engine 5.7—available for free on Fab.

The pack contains a collection of over 50 VFX Niagara systems, designed to help you learn visually, then adapt or refine to suit your project’s specific needs. Discover everything from explosions, bullet impacts, and trails to sparks, fire, and smoke; mist cards; player and weapon buffs/debuffs; Animation-Notify–based footstep effects; pings and markers; lightning; hit dissolves; and more.
Autofire system

The Niagara Examples Pack can be downloaded from Fab and imported directly into your projects, ready for any studio size and skill level to use. Once added to your scene, you’re free to use them as-is, open them up and customize them to your needs, or simply explore them as learning examples.

Tesla coil system
The pack also includes a dedicated gallery game play level within the asset pack that you can open and play through. It demonstrates how each system can be used, making it one of the primary ways to experiment with the systems and learn how they work.

The systems have been authored with our best practices in mind. Each system is assigned a Niagara Effect Type, which specifies scalability settings such as spawn limits; whether to pause or kill the system at a distance; and spawn multipliers for each scalability group.

The emitters inside each system have also been assigned scalability groups, enabling individual emitters to be activated or deactivated to help keep performance within reasonable limits across multiple platforms.

Plus, we’ve also included impact and footstep systems, which make use of Niagara Data Channels. These systems greatly reduce the number of components spawned by handling all impacts or footsteps inside an island with a single Niagara system.
Footprint and impact system

Lightweight emitters have been used where appropriate to further reduce cost. These are stateless emitter types that offer reduced functionality in exchange for greater performance and efficiency.

Fireworks system
The pack also includes Animation Notify Blueprints that demonstrate how to trigger VFX from animation events. These Blueprints include an option to easily switch between Niagara Data Channel spawning or per-step system spawning.
Player buff and debuff

This is the first release of the Niagara Examples Pack; we plan to continue updating it with new systems in future releases. We’ll also refine existing systems as Niagara development continues.
