Theme Park of the Future

Ready to take a thrilling ride? Roller coasters have been entertaining thrill seekers for hundreds of years. It’s hard to think of a better way to explore physics. In this lesson, students will use their knowledge of physics to build theme park rides in Fortnite Creative.

Overview

Let’s talk about science! Fortnite’s awesome physics engine gives us some amazing opportunities to talk about gravity, momentum, kinetic energy, and force while having some fun at the same time.

In this project, students will put everything they’ve learned about these concepts to use by building a theme park with rides to demonstrate them.

By the end, students will be able to describe how their rides show examples of these effects, and take us on a tour of everything else they’ve built.

Encourage students to take their ideas to new heights by turning some of their rides into mini games that their theme park attendees can participate in.

Learning objectives

Students will be able to:

  • Understand and describe the principles of gravity, kinetic energy, momentum, and force.
  • Put that understanding to use by creating complex examples.
  • Use design skills to create simple games and machines.
