Niagara Tutorials: Fire and Smoke Effect

These Niagara tutorials are preliminary modules that you should complete before moving on to the next part in the series: ‘Blueprints: Controlling Niagara Particles’.

The series explores the process of creating a level in which a player has to maneuver through a platform scattered with explosive mines. 

In these initial modules, you’ll learn how to use Niagara to create explosives that emit smoke to signal an impending detonation before blowing up.

Once you’ve completed these modules, move on to the ‘Blueprints: Controlling Niagara Particles’ modules up next to learn how to make them eliminate any colliding player on explosion.

Blueprints: Controlling Niagara Particles

This three-part tutorial series teaches you how to control visual effects created with Niagara using the Blueprint visual scripting system. You’ll use the effects created in the previous Niagara tutorials on fire and smoke for this series.
  • Part 1 explores how to programmatically control Niagara particles using Blueprints.
  • Part 2 dives into how to use the Level Blueprint to manage multiple copies of the BP_FXVent that you created in Part 1.
  • Part 3 demonstrates how to eliminate the player based on their collision with the fire explosion effect.
