Unreal Academy is a training event for creatives, designers, and visualization specialists in the architectural visualization, automotive & transportation, film & television, and other non-games fields who are seeking to tap into the potential of using Unreal Engine’s real-time technology.

Sol Rogers
Founder CEO

Sol Rogers is CEO and Founder of REWIND, a leading immersive solutions company with a proven track record in building scalable immersive tools and software. REWIND helps brands and businesses seize the power of VR, AR, and MR to disrupt traditional practices, improve processes and redefine creativity. Sol is the Chair of the BAFTA Immersive Entertainment Advisory Group and the Chair of IMMERSE UK, working to ensure that the UK becomes the global leader in immersive technologies. As a leading figure in the industry, Sol is also an advisor to many global awards and conferences. Prior to founding REWIND, Sol was a senior university lecturer for 15 years in digital animation, VFX & emerging technology.
John Murphy

BBC Sports
As a Creative Director for BBC Sport John leads on the branding, visual graphics and graphical innovation for the department. His role crosses all areas of BBC Sport including; Football, Olympics, World Cup, Wimbledon and many more. John has placed a large importance in VR and AR being used to innovate and helping to create a unique viewing experience.
Samantha Anderson
Associate, Interactive Visualization
SHoP
Samantha Anderson is an Associate at SHoP Architects with a focus in Interactive Visualization. She works with the design team to visualize projects through renderings, animations, and virtual reality experiences. She’s been involved in projects at all design phases including SITE Santa Fe, Syracuse National Veterans Resource Center, and the US Embassy in Bangkok. Samantha has been an advocate for the use of XR and its integration to better the design process at SHoP. She has lead multiple research and development efforts from creating immersive experiences to integrating new material workflows for teams. Samantha graduated from the University of Texas at Austin after completing a residency program in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Emma Fowler
Senior Associate

After graduating from the prestigious interior design program at New York City’s Fashion Institute of Technology, Emma joined SHoP where she has become central to the creative development and realization of spaces adapted to promote innovation and collaboration. Her work in that area, which includes defining the fit, finish, and function of interiors for technology company offices, incubators, and innovation spaces, is supplemented and informed by a broad understanding of best-practices in creating interiors for residential, educational, and hospitality projects. Most recently she participated in the successful design of a new vertical campus for Company, a flagship concept in start-up community-building, located in the renovated spaces of an historic tower adjacent to Grand Central Terminal.
Tom Box
Co-founder/Managing Director
BlueZoo Animation Studio
Tom Box is co-founder and joint managing director of Blue Zoo Animation. Over the last 19 years, the studio has grown to become the biggest dedicated CG animation studio in the UK, picking up a few BAFTAs along the way. Tom has been the driving force behind the studio's continuous exploration of new technology, experimenting with cutting-edge tools to see how they can improve animation workflows and facilitate artists creativity.
Mohen Leo
VFX Supervisor

Mohen Leo has worked for many years in the visual effects industry, first as a digital artist on films like “The Perfect Storm”, “Pearl Harbor” and “The Matrix Reloaded”. Later, as visual effects supervisor, he led work on projects including “Speed Racer”, “2012” and “Transformers: Age of Extinction”. 

From 2009 to 2012, Leo worked at ILM Singapore as Studio Supervisor, overseeing the expansion of ILM’s first Asian studio. Following that, he joined ILM London as visual effects supervisor on “Ant-Man”, “The Martian”, “Deepwater Horizon” and, most recently, “Rogue One”, for which Leo received Academy Award and BAFTA nominations.

In 2017 Leo returned to San Francisco as Director of Experience Development for ILMxLAB, Lucasfilm's immersive entertainment studio, where he also functioned as narrative designer on "Vader Immortal", an interactive VR story.
Teddy Bergsman
Quixel
Teddy is a veteran of the games industry, having worked on multiple AAA titles. He has been passionate about creating computer graphics from the age of 10. He started Quixel in 2011 to help develop groundbreaking 3D art tools and asset resources for fellow artists. Both Teddy and Quixel have come a long way. From the first 3D scanner he put together at the age of 16, to a company that helps hundreds of thousands of artists with an ever expanding array of tools and assets. What began as a vision to enable artists to create a world close to reality, is now a massive library of PBR-ready scans, covering a spectrum of surfaces and 3D assets and art tools such as Mixer and Bridge, geared toward every sphere of the visual effects space; be it games, visualizations, VFX, and mobile.
Marc Petit

Epic Games
As General Manager of the Enterprise business, Marc oversees growth of Epic Games’ Unreal Engine business into markets outside of game development. Prior to joining Epic Games in mid-2016, Marc was a partner and Entrepreneur-In-Residence at XPND Capital, a Montreal-based investment fund where he co-founded and launched Taxelco, a sustainable urban transportation company. Between 2002 and 2013, Marc ran Autodesk’s Media & Entertainment business unit steering development and marketing of the industry’s leading 3D animation and VFX software products 3ds Max, Maya, MotionBuilder and Flame. Marc started his career at TDI in 1988, and joined Softimage in 1991 where he ran 3D Products and oversaw the design and development of Softimage XSI.
Simon Jones
Director UE Enterprise
Epic Games
Simon has amassed over two decades of experience within the video games industry, and has spent the last four years focusing on visualisation solutions within the automotive, industrial and aviation sectors. As a seasoned professional he joined Epic Games at the end of 2015 and now leads the European Enterprise division, focusing on building a strong Unreal Engine presence within key verticals, as well as ensuring that the established client base receives the absolute best in customer support and technical assistance. Simon has built a strong European team around him that will enable Unreal Engine to continue to be the real-time visualisation solution of choice within the enterprise sector.

Unreal Academy Party

All attendees are invited to join us for our Unreal Academy party and enjoy an evening of networking with the Unreal Engine team and fellow Unreal Academy attendees. The party will be held on Tuesday, November 12 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Giant Robot. 


Each guest will be allotted a "street feast food passport," which will provide them with stamps to sample different food options and an open bar. The event will also include games and a DJ.
