Join Epic Games at SketchUp’s 3D Basecamp 2018 conference
As a biennial conference for the SketchUp user base, 3D Basecamp is a hotbed of activity and excitement where many creative minds in the 3D modeling community converge to share ideas, network, and explore the latest innovations in design.
This year’s gathering is taking place September 24-28 in Palm Springs, CA and will be packed full of workshops and programming covering a broad range of 3D modeling industries. Today, we’re excited to announce that Epic Games will be on hand to showcase some of the incredible possibilities of what you can achieve with SketchUp, Unreal Engine, and Unreal Studio.

If you’re a 3D modeler working in architecture, interior design, construction, entertainment, concept art, or other creative disciplines, you won’t want to miss out on this conference. Here’s a quick look at where you can find us, and what we’ll be presenting at the event.

Experience design in real time
Planning to attend the conference? We’d hope you’ll swing by to say hello! The Unreal Engine team will be set up at Booth #4 with hands-on demos and experts to answer your questions on all things UE4, so don’t be shy.
Additionally, we’re partnering with HP and HTC Vive to present VR Island, a dedicated space for attendees to explore unique VR experiences in architecture, interior design, manufacturing, product design, and more! It’ll be a great opportunity to meet with technology leaders and discover how real-time and VR are changing design process and collaboration.

Expert presentations on SketchUp, Unreal Studio, and Unreal Engine
Beyond the Unreal Engine booth and VR Island, we’ll also have several live presentations for anyone who wants to enhance their design workflows using SketchUp, Unreal Studio, and Unreal Engine.
On Wednesday, September 26 at 4 p.m. Daniel Brown will present his talk, Create Real-Time Visuals with Unreal Studio, which will showcase the exciting new SketchUp exporter for Unreal Engine. Daniel will show you how to unlock a more flexible and immersive presentation experience for your designs using Unreal Studio. He’ll also cover how to quickly take your existing SketchUp models and create high-quality, photorealistic and immersive AR and VR experiences for your designs.
Then on Friday, September 28 at 9:30 a.m., Chris Murray will host a hands-on workshop, Create Amazing: Experiencing your SketchUp Model with Unreal Engine, that focuses on how to create impressive experiences with SketchUp and Unreal Engine. After providing a top-level overview of Unreal Engine and what can be done with it, Chris will dig into key workflows for preparing SketchUp data to work properly in Unreal Engine. This includes geometry settings, UVs, and Materials. He’ll also cover how to create stunning real-time walkthroughs and make your work shine while achieving faster workflows.
3D Basecamp 2018 is going to be a ton of fun, and we can’t wait to see you there!
