Build a lesson plan using interactive 3D for a chance to win cash prizes

Students love playing games like Fortnite. What if they could enjoy learning history, math, science, or social studies while they play and create?
 
Epic Games invites secondary school teachers to submit lesson plans that utilize interactive 3D technology to engage their students for a chance to win cash prizes up to $25,000. To enter the contest, submit a new or existing lesson plan that incorporates Fortnite Creative, Twinmotion, or Unreal Engine by September 30, 2020.   

Lesson plans can cover any topic for ages 13 and up—whether that’s a core subject like history, math, or science, or vocational skills like game design, engineering, or urban planning. Need help teaching with real-time tools? Who doesn’t love a good Rube Goldberg Machine? Full of humor, wit, and based on simple machines, Rube Goldberg inventions are described as overly complex machines comprised of a number of automated actions to solve a simple problem. We can only imagine how thrilled Rube would have been if Fortnite Creative mode was available in his day. In this lesson, students will learn about simple machines, engineering, and automation as they design and build a Rube Goldberg Machine.

HISTORY

"Build a virtual history museum in Unreal Engine"
Lesson plan example for ages 13+

History can be even more engaging when you feel part of it! In the virtual history museum project, students share what they learn about history by navigating an interactive 3D environment built with Unreal Engine. Although American history is the focus of this example, any historical narrative can be featured. The final product of this lesson is a playable character walking through a virtual environment populated with a topical library of content on display, e.g., posters, objects, and props that play to the theme or subject matter.

"Create a sustainable park in Twinmotion"
Lesson plan example for ages 13+

In this lesson, students will use Twinmotion to design a sustainable neighborhood park for their community. Students will learn about how sustainability can enhance a community's quality of life and promote the responsible management of resources. By the end of this lesson, students will understand how to use Twinmotion to build scenes, import objects, and create environmental effects using built-in tools and assets.
