They will discuss improvements in lighting technology and scene construction, and the resulting benefits for content creators.

He’ll demonstrate how the tool has been production tested in the complex ecosystem of Fortnite, where it was used to deliver polished VFX, and reveal what the future holds.

Tim Sweeney is the founder and CEO of Epic Games. Tim started Epic in 1991 with the release of its first shareware game, and then wrote much of the first-generation Unreal Engine. He has led the company through the eras of PC, console, mobile, and online gaming.

Kim Libreri

Kim Libreri, CTO of Epic Games, is responsible for defining Unreal Engine as the platform of choice for all types of interactive experiences. Prior to joining Epic, Kim was the Chief Strategy Officer at Lucasfilm. His career in digital technology and visual effects spans over 20 years.

Nick Penwarden

VP of Engineering
Epic Games
Nick Penwarden is Epic Games’ VP of Engineering, where he oversees development for all aspects of Unreal Engine. During his nine years at Epic, which cover the lifespan of Unreal Engine, Nick has also served as Lead Graphics Programmer and Senior Engine Programmer.  

Chris Dyl

Chris Dyl is GM of Online Services at Epic Games. His career in the games industry began in 1995 as Cofounder and CTO of Turbine. When Turbine was acquired by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment in 2010, Chris became VP of Technology, before joining Epic in 2014 as Director of Platform.

Steve Allison

Epic Games
Steve Allison is GM of the Epic Games Store. He’s been in the games industry for a remarkable 25 years, with a resume that includes roles at Accolade, Atari, Midway Games, and TNA Entertainment. Prior to joining Epic in 2018, he spent eight years at Telltale Games as SVP Publishing.

Teddy Bergsman

Director - Quixel
Epic Games
Teddy Bergsman is Director of Quixel at Epic Games, and is responsible for the vision, goals, and scanning projects for Megascans. Prior to founding Quixel in 2011 to help innovate tools and content for fellow artists, Teddy worked in the AAA games industry developing 3D scanning technologies.

Dana Cowley

Senior Marketing Manager
Epic Games
Dana Cowley is the Senior Marketing Manager at Epic Games, where she focuses primarily on Unreal Engine marketing and PR. During her 12 years at Epic, Dana has supported the company’s games, technology partnerships, and community initiatives. Before Epic, Dana directed marketing and communications relations for a range of clients.

Brian Karis

Technical Director of Graphics
Epic Games
Brian Karis is a Technical Director of Graphics at Epic Games, where he works on the renderer for Unreal Engine. He specializes in geometry, physically-based rendering, and post-processing. Prior to joining Epic in 2012, he worked at Human Head Studios and created the renderer for Prey 2.
