With SIGGRAPH 2018 just around the corner, we’re thrilled to be able to share the latest cutting-edge Unreal Engine developments and showcase some of the amazing projects our dedicated Enterprise users are building with our real-time platform.
At the expo, you’ll find us at Booth 1401 with lots of demos and Enterprise customer guest speakers, but we also don’t want you to miss out on the info-packed day of tech talks the Unreal team has put together for you! On Wednesday, August 15, our team of experts will be giving in-depth talks on a wide range of Unreal-related topics in the Vancouver Convention Centre East Building, Meeting Room 16. Please note, a SIGGRAPH badge is required to attend.
You won’t want to miss this! Here’s a quick look at the tech talks we have planned:

Real-time Ray Tracing Advances in Unreal Engine
(9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.)The holy grail of real-time rendering is finally here! Join Juan Canada and François Antoine in exploring the latest exciting ray tracing advancements in Unreal Engine. We’ll break down the roadmap of our new path-tracer and progressive lightmapper, then reveal our latest real-time ray-traced showcase.

Fortnite - Advancing The Animation Production Pipeline
(11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)Looking to improve your understanding of real-time animation production in Unreal Engine? Follow Epic’s Brian Pohl and Ryan Mayeda as they chart the course of new workflow and pipeline improvements to UE4 while dissecting the Fortnite cinematic trailer one year after its initial release.
In this lecture, you'll learn more about what we've improved, changed, and added to UE4 to dramatically streamline your animation pipeline. We'll examine Perforce setup, source control, Python integration, Sequencer improvements, better production management techniques through UE4's Shotgun integration capabilities, and more!

Real-time Motion Capture in Unreal Engine
(12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.)Motion capture technology has come a long way over the years, expanding from its early roots as a medical tool for biomechanics to being widely used in Hollywood blockbuster films.
Ready to experience the next wave in motion capture innovation? Join us to see for yourself how Unreal Engine is helping to break boundaries and bring the power of real-time motion capture to film, games, theater, and beyond!

Virtual Production with Unreal Engine 4.20
(2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.)With the release of Unreal Engine 4.20, creative teams in the film and television worlds have an array of new tools designed to support the virtual production process. These tools are defining a new wave of production workflows that integrate real-time visual effects with live action footage.
Join us as we take a look under the hood of UE4's new virtual camera, genlock, timecode, Sequence Recorder, and video I/O capabilities that are destined to alter the way you make visual content.

Mixed Reality Production using Unreal Engine 4.20
(3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.)Curious about what it takes to build a mixed reality entertainment attraction using Unreal Engine 4? Join us to learn more about the pipeline and processes of designing themed mixed-reality experiences for a local stage.
This tech talk will delve into mixed reality production processes using UE4, VR hardware, real lighting and effects integration using DMX/Midi/Artnet, and motion capture systems. You’ll also learn to build live 3D characters with motion tracking IK, which helps in crafting immersive experiences for live actors and players alike.
We hope to see you at our tech talks in the Vancouver Convention Centre East Building, Meeting Room 16 at SIGGRAPH 2018 on Wednesday, August 15th! Don’t forget to also stop by Booth 1401 and check out our demos and see Enterprise customer presentations, too! For more information, visit our SIGGRAPH 2018 event page.
