Unreal Futures: Become a digital fashion designer

Virtual fashion is the new black. In the past year alone, Gucci released its first digital sneaker; Gary James McQueen had his first digital fashion show; and Balenciaga unveiled Afterworld: The Age of Tomorrow, a video game built to showcase the company’s Fall 2021 collection. If this trend continues, could our future clothes be more pixels than polyester?

The answer is nobody knows for sure—but with virtual fashion expected to be worth $50 billion for gaming uses alone, there could be countless opportunities for designers and brands who understand the benefits of the technology early.

That’s why we’re excited to introduce our free Unreal Futures: Careers in Fashion course!

Who is digital fashion for?

Technical artists, designers, and brands looking to expand into virtual fashion.

Brands
Prepare your company for the future or differentiate yourself today with virtual experiences that look nothing like the competition. When you can make any environment you want or gamify the shopping experience, collections are no longer limited by the physical rules or location-based costs that shut ideas down.

This freedom will only become more important as consumers start to journey into the metaverse, and go looking for digital designs that help their avatar feel like a personal extension of their own unique style.

Designers/creative directors
After this course, you’ll be able to bring any vision into your own real-time universe, opening up new ways to shape how your collections are perceived. And if you don’t want to create real-time experiences yourself...no problem. By learning how it’s done, you can effectively guide the artists who execute on those visions, whether that’s digital garments, 3D catwalks, or the virtual storefronts that put collections in context.

Artists
Want to drive the birth of a new medium? As brands and designers explore the emerging opportunities of virtual fashion, artists who can create real-time experiences will be in high demand. Take part in something that’s both exciting and financially rewarding by learning how to build the stores and experiences of the virtual fashion world—turning a fashion professional’s dreams into reality.
