Unreal Engine developers earn top honors in the 2018 ‘Rookie of the Year’ awards

By Melissa Robinson

The Rookies recently revealed the winners of its International Student Awards and we are pleased to announce that a student using Unreal Engine 4 took home the winning title of “Rookie of the Year” in the Game Development category.

For those unfamiliar, The Rookies is an annual awards and mentor platform where creative students in games, animation, film, VR, motion graphics and architecture visualization compete for the coveted title of “Rookie of the Year”. The stakes are high as each project is evaluated by a panel of all-star judges. The Rookies is an incredible way for students to showcase their creative projects to industry leaders and transition from student to professional.

The Rookies received 9,971 projects created by 2,914 students from 581 different schools from over 87 countries. Students from around the world submitted their unique digital projects to compete for the ultimate titles such as Rookie of the Year (Feature Animation, Digital Illustration, Visual Effects, Game Development, Virtual Reality, 3D Motion Graphics, Product Visualization, Architecture Visualization), Film of the Year (2D Animation, 3D Animation, and Visual Effects) and Game of the Year (PC & Console, Mobile, and Virtual Reality). This year, students were also able to participate to win Studio Internships and University Scholarships.

We would like to congratulate all the students that submitted these amazing UE4 projects. Let’s check out some of the outstanding UE4 winners.
