Hi, all! I'm Jon Jones, the new Content Curator for the Marketplace. You'll be seeing a lot more of me on the blog and on the forums. This week, I'd like to show off our six newest content packs! I'm also going to highlight something special or unique about each one that I think makes them a good addition to the Marketplace. The goal is to show developers relevant, interesting ways in which the packs could be used that may not be immediately obvious, and also to give content creators ideas on how to design and market what they create. This week we have six new packs with an emphasis on volume and modularity!
First up is the "FX Star Starter Kit vA" from Jeremy Baldwin, a pack that provides vast cosmic splendors without putting a dent in your wallet! Seriously, though, check out the video. (link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvr9iQJgHHc) These stars look incredible, and there's a huge array of customization options to get a wide variety of looks for your project, and it holds up especially well at close range for realtime or cinematic purposes. This would be a great pack to pick up if you're working on a game set in space.
For the budding urban planners in the audience, next up is Polypixel's "Urban City Pack," a comprehensive modular set of buildings and props for urban city environments. The pack includes a wide variety of props and completed buildings, in addition to a well thought out and flexible set of modular pieces so you can construct your own. It comes with 40+ props, 30+ tileable PBR materials, and he was even thoughtful enough to include LODs. This is a solid, well-rounded set that can be used and customized in many ways. If you're building a city, give the Urban City Pack a look!
If you want a break from the city for a taste of country life, check out the "Country Side" pack. Also by PolyPixel, this is a great starter set of foliage -- complete with fall color variations, a nice touch! -- terrain materials, mocks, wooden fences, roads and a cottage-style house. It also comes with two sample environments showing off the summer and fall color variations to give an idea of asset usage in a set, and it's rounded out with a full set of LODs for desktop and mobile. This is a good-looking set with a lot of variety, and the seasonal color variations will give it extra mileage.
On the sparkly VFX side of the world, we have the "100+ Magic Particle Effects" pack from UETools! Whether you're looking for fire, water, lava, sun, stars, explosions, bubbles, or even flowers, this pack has something for you. It's designed for both desktop and mobile, and includes an additional 25 alpha textures linked to Materials for use in creating particle effects in Cascade. This pack will give you a big head start on developing a wide variety of unique, easily differentiated VFX for your game.
Looking to give your game a bit more texture? Look no further than "Yughues' Hand-Painted Materials," a pack of 50+ ready-to-use materials for a wide variety of stylized uses. Think of sand dunes, cobblestone streets, moss-covered rocks, frost-covered glaciers, and many, many more. Have a look! These are stylized just past photo-realism and could help give your game a unique, more colorful and punchy look.
Finally, what's a game without music to pack a punch? The "Cinematic Music" pack from Chibola Productions is built with action and adventure games in mind to feel sweeping and epic with a well-rounded set of 15 tracks to match your game's every musical and emotional beat. Have a listen and see if these can add the musical oomph your game needs.
All of these items are available now in the Marketplace! As always, let us know if you’d like to see anything specific on the Marketplace.
