Exploring the new animation features of Unreal Engine 5 Early Access

Over the past several weeks, we’ve been hosting a series of in-depth presentations relating to the key features of Unreal Engine 5 Early Access on our official livestream, Inside Unreal. Most recently, we’ve recapped UE5’s world building features after having previously explored both Nanite and Lumen.
 

On this week's livestream, Epic’s Technical Product Manager Jeremiah Grant, Senior Animation Programmer Kiaran Ritchie, and Lead Programmer Aaron Cox were joined by Product Specialist Victor Brodin and Senior Technical Product Designer Chance Ivey to discuss UE5's new animation features. 

As you’ll discover in the livestream recap above, Full-Body IK (FBIK) provides you with the tools to create reactive, dynamic characters, and Motion Warping is a new Experimental feature which allows you to manipulate root motion animations to adapt them to the world with fewer custom assets.

    Get Unreal Engine 5 Early Access

    If you’re an existing Unreal Engine user, you can get UE5 Early Access and the Valley of the Ancient sample project from the Epic Games Launcher. If you’re new to Unreal Engine, we suggest getting to know UE 4.26 as a first step.
