So, what does this mean for you? Here at Epic we’re pleased to confirm that we will release ARKit 2 support through an Unreal Engine 4.20 preview this month, so you’ll soon be able to get going with the latest AR features for iOS devices.
With the preview we’ll provide instructions on how to access ARKit 2 support in UE4, along with a sample project and documentation to help acquaint you with aspects such as environment capture, world loading, saving and sharing, for example.
All devices running iOS 11 will be able to update to iOS 12. Stay tuned for more information on the imminent preview releases for Unreal Engine 4.20. We can’t wait to see what you build with ARKit 2 using Unreal.
